Karen Women Carrying Water
Saw Kyaw San
This drawing of two Karen women in Burma carrying
water in bamboo tubes is a reminder that indigenous people in many countries of
our world face growing threats against their way of living, their values and
their close connection with the earth. Victims of land-grabbing,
war and discrimination, they struggle to keep their communities alive and to
carry on the traditions and culture they have practiced for generations. Rather than alienate them from their land, we would do well to learn from
their wisdom and experience how to preserve our earth by living in harmony with
it and respecting its Creator.

The CJPA web site contains a wide range of grassroots artwork in both written and visual form. This section of the homepage will showcase these efforts of peace on a rotating basis in order to inspire viewers to look deeper into the web site and also encourage viewers to submit their own work.

Special Focus:-
We have added a new section to our website. The purpose of the 'Special Focus' is to increase
global awareness of specific marginalized groups in Asia. Through discussion at
the 2006 CJPA workshop in Kerala, India, it was decided that the issues of the
Dalit community warranted further publication. It is for this reason
that the Dalit people, in both India and Nepal, have been chosen as our
first Special Focus.
